NSF-ITP-93-16 cond-mat/9301034 Lower Bound on the Energy Gap at Precise Locations

چکیده

Recent inelastic-neutron-scattering measurements of a low-energy phonon in Bi 2 Sr 2 CaCu 2 O 8 provide enough information to place a lower bound on the energy gap magnitude at precise locations on the Fermi surface. Measurements of a few low-energy phonons should indicate whether the gap symmetry is d x 2 −y 2. Further measurements could map out the angle-resolved gap magnitude on the entire Fermi surface.

IASSNS-HEP-97/5, NSF-ITP-97-014, cond-mat/9701212 The Haldane-Rezayi Quantum Hall State and Conformal Field Theory

We propose field theories for the bulk and edge of a quantum Hall state in the universality class of the Haldane-Rezayi wavefunction. The bulk theory is associated with the c = −2 conformal field theory. The topological properties of the state, such as the quasiparticle braiding statistics and ground state degeneracy on a torus, may be deduced from this conformal field theory. The 10-fold degen...

Hydrogen storage in pillared Li-dispersed boron carbide nanotubes

Ab initio density-functional theory study suggests that pillared Li-dispersed boron carbide nanotubes is capable of storing hydrogen with a mass density higher than 6.0 weight% and a volumetric density higher than 45 g/L. The boron substitution in carbon nanotube greatly enhances the binding energy of Li atom to the nanotube, and this binding energy (~ 2.7 eV) is greater than the cohesive energ...

Diffusion Poles and the Anderson Transition

In the recent series of papers (cond-mat/0402471, cond-mat/0403618, condmat/0407618, cond-mat/0501586), Janis and Kolorenc discussed the role of the diffision poles in the Anderson transition theory. Their picture contradicts the general principles and is shown below to be completely misleading. Correct setting of the problem is given and the contemporary situation is discussed. The critical re...
